About Government Grants

Looking for Government Grants?

Many consumers are looking for government grants for their personal use with the problems in the economy and with the high unemployment. Many hope to get government money for living expenses and debt problems thus leading them to search for government grants online. The government grant site is Grants.gov.

There are Pell Grants for education and are available for personal education use but some government grants are given to foundations and organizations that in turn serve individuals. As for now there is not much in the way of free grants for individuals. Keep checking the government grant site frequently for new information.

There may not be a free grant that never has to be paid back for individuals that help with personal problems like being in debt. Look for programs instead of grants that you could use to help so you have more money for other basic living expenses like food or housing assistance in your state.

Typical grants require that forms be completed on a quarterly basis, to document how much money has been spent and on what, how well the work is progressing on the work that is promised to do.

Visit GovLoans.gov to learn more about well-known programs such as Pell Grants, Work-Study, and Perkins and Stafford Loans. The Department of Veterans Affairs website can give information about the "GI Bill" and other programs for veterans and their survivors and dependents.

Beware of "scholarship scams." For example, be warned if you are asked for your bank account number to "hold" the scholarship. Be sure the scholarship is legitimate before giving out any personal information.

Through the Department of Veterans Affairs, veterans and their families may be eligible for loans to buy a home.

The United States Department of Agriculture's Rural Housing Service insures loans for the purchase of homes in rural communities.

Fannie Mae has a website that can help you find a low cost mortgage and a lender that are right for you.
